Today the postman rang and, guess what, brought me my gourmet box for June. As usual, I was not very patient and opened it straight away. It is such a lovely box this time!
I wish you could have opened it with me, but I will show you in this post what it contained. While writing this blog, I am tempted to eat all the delicious parsnip crisps at once :) But I am getting ahead of myself...
In the second pic you see two non-alcoholic drinks by Naturfrisk. The foodist team chose the Pink Grapefruit Lemonade and the Ginger Beer from a huge variety of lemonades, smoothies and juices produced by the Danish company. All of the ingredients are organic and you can drink the lemonade pure or in a cocktail. I haven't opened the drinks at the moment because I have to put them in the fridge first, but I assume that they are great when it's hot. I will post am update when I tried them.
The first one is really exotic vinegar. When I first read the ingredients of Womersley Lemon, Basil, Bay & Juniper Vinegar I was (and maybe I still am) a little skeptical. Does that really taste nice? And how will I use it in my kitchen? Well, I read the short description on the bottle and it told me that you could drizzle it over salmon fillet before baking. Sounds good to me because I love salmon and I love baked salmon especially :) I think I will try this recommendation, just to get a first impression of the vinegar. In my opinion, I could also use it in a salad or even in a sauce. Let's see what I'll do with it.
The second pic shows camembert... No, just kidding, but that was my first thought when I saw this round, wooden box. It was no cheese, but Mallek's Nougat de Provence made with almonds and honey. I must say it looks really good and I never tasted white nougat before. Because it is really hot today, I don't feel like opening and eating it, but just looking at the pic is a promise in itself.
The last picture shows Weber Leonhard's Dijon Mustard, purely organic product made in Germany. I really like mustard, but in my kitchen it is often restricted to be eaten with sausages or on top of some cold meats. I will use it in an egg sandwich, just mixing it with some majonaise. It will be delicious because the mustard contains no artificial ingredients, only the pure mustard seeds, vinegar, water, salt and spices.
So, this was the gourmet box June 2014. I hope you enjoyed my short post. Have a lovely day and enjoy your week :)
